Your data is yours. Full stop.

Walk Done is built by people who find most apps ask for far too much. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it. The big print and the fine print are the same print.

The short version

Who we are

Walk Done is made by D1N LLC. When this page says we, that is who it means. For anything about your data, write to us through the support page.

Your account

You sign in with Apple, with Google, or with a one-time code we email you. There is no Walk Done password, so there is no Walk Done password to lose. From your sign-in we keep your email address and, for Apple and Google sign-ins, the identifier that confirms it is you. We also record your time zone and a label for the device you are signed in on. Walk Done keeps you signed in on one device at a time, so signing in somewhere new signs the old device out.

What we store on our servers

Your walking life is stored on our servers so it survives a lost phone and follows you to a new one. That covers:

Finished walks also feed anonymous, app-wide totals, like the steps everyone using Walk Done has walked together. Those counters contain nothing that points back to you. And everything above travels between your devices and our servers over an encrypted connection.

What stays on your device

The route you walked stays with you. Walk Done uploads one distance total per walk, never your GPS trail, and never coordinates in any form. The same goes for the raw sensor streams: step cadence, second-by-second heart rate, and motion data are processed on your phone or watch, and only summaries leave them. Your walk scores are computed on your phone too. Our servers store the results; they never see the raw data behind them.

Health data

Connecting Apple Health or Google Health Connect is optional. You choose what Walk Done may read and write on their own permission screens, and you can change or withdraw that access there at any time. We read steps, energy, and heart rate to power live guidance and your scores, and we write your finished walks back as workouts. If heart rate is measured during a walk, a short summary of it, the lowest, the average, and the highest, is stored with that walk on our servers. Health data is never used for advertising and never shared.

Location, motion, and sensors

Walk Done asks for location only to measure outdoor walks, and only while the app is in use. An active walk keeps measuring with the screen off, but the moment the walk ends, so does the tracking. Motion access is what counts your steps. There is no camera, microphone, or contacts access, because the app has no use for them.

Analytics and crash reports

We collect usage analytics, which screens get used, which walking styles get started, where the app crashes, because it is how we find out what to fix and what to improve. These events are tied to your account id, not to your email address, and they never contain your notes, your route, or anything you type. We use a single analytics provider for this and nothing else; there are no advertising or tracking tools in the app. If you would rather not share usage data, you can switch it off in the app's privacy settings.

Subscriptions

Pro is sold through the App Store and Google Play, and payment runs entirely through them. We never see your card or bank details. Apple or Google confirm the purchase to us, and we keep that confirmation so your Pro features unlock wherever you sign in.

Notifications

Reminders like the daily walk nudge are scheduled locally on your phone and never touch a server. If you allow notifications, we also store a delivery token for your device so we can send the few that come from us, like a heads-up before a trial ends. You can turn notifications off in your system settings at any time.

The services we rely on

A few providers and partners process data on our behalf, and each one sees only what its job requires. Our hosting provider runs our servers and delivers our sign-in emails. Our analytics provider processes the usage data described above. Apple and Google verify sign-ins, handle purchases, and deliver push notifications. That is the whole list. No ad networks, no data brokers, and nobody on the list is allowed to use your data for anything except running Walk Done.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. Delete your account in the app, under Settings, and it is deactivated immediately and removed from our systems within 30 days. Deleting the app from your phone is not the same thing: that removes the local copy, but your account stays, waiting for your next sign-in.

Your rights

You can see and change your data in the app, and deleting your account is always available, no questions asked. Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights over your data, like access, correction, erasure, or a complaint to your data protection authority. Write to us and we will honour them.

Children

Walk Done is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If a child has an account and you would like it gone, write to us and we will delete it.

This website

The website you are reading keeps things just as light. We count visits with a privacy-friendly analytics tool that uses no cookies and does not identify you. The site stores your theme and language choices in your browser, and sets one cookie only if you pick a language by hand, so every page can greet you in it. If you use the contact form, what you type is sent to us by email and used only to reply.

When this policy changes

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and its date, and flag meaningful changes inside the app. We will never quietly expand what we take.

Questions

Ask us anything about your data and we will get you a straight answer. Write to us through the support page.
